Le lever du jour sur le vignoble de Vézelay
A blissful experience…

If only time would stand still!

The best time for a hot air balloon ride is most definitely in the morning, when the first rays of sun are warming up the scenery and when there is still a light mist hanging over the vineyards, or in the evening when the light is changing and the sun is slowly starting to set. This is when nature seems to pause for a moment, and silence reigns.

It's not easy to picture these magical moments in your mind but let's give it a try. Close your eyes and imagine you're in a hot air balloon gondola. The wicker basket is gently rocking as the wind carries you away in complete silence. The scenery passes by down below as you glide through the air, over the perfectly aligned vines, the rows facing one way or the other depending on the vine plots, surrounded by stone walls, creating an incredibly beautiful sight in any season, but particularly spectacular in autumn.

A vineyard for everyone

Vézelien, Côte de Beaune, Côte de Nuits, Chalonnaise, Mâconnais… it's possible to glide over all the vineyards of Burgundy in a hot air balloon, and each one provides its own unique magical sight. All you have to do is choose which hot air balloon you'd like to ride in, depending on the vineyard you'd like to explore! Here is our selection:

A Burgundy winegrower takes you into the skies

Domaine de l'Europe

It just so happens that this aeronaut from Burgundy is also a winegrower in Mercurey, so visitors can take hot air balloon rides and learn all about the world of wine and the grapevine at the same time, with a wine tasting after the ride. What more could you ask for!

Come and share this experience with Guy, your pilot...

If you're not so sure about taking to the skies

Enjoy a 360° view with your feet firmly on the ground

Who said your feet had to leave the ground to be able to enjoy a breathtaking view, made all the more spectacular by the autumn colours? If you're not sure about taking to the skies, the ideal compromise is to head up to the top of a hill that overlooks the surrounding landscapes. We recommend walking up to the top of the Rock of Solutré where you'll be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view. Our top tip: make this experience even more memorable by adding a few drinks to enjoy (in moderation) on the top of the rock. With a Kir cocktail or a glass of Crémant de Bourgogne in your hand, watch the magical sunset over the surrounding hillsides!
