Twenty years ago, the owners of fourteen châteaux in southern Burgundy set up the Route des châteaux association to raise awareness of their historic heritage and share their passion for these extraordinary places, which they are committed to keeping alive and open to the public.
In the heart of magnificent landscapes and gardens, fifteen châteaux, listed or registered as Historic Monuments, offer an anthology of French art and an evocation of Burgundy's historic past, a land of trade and culture.
The châteaux of Berzé-le-Châtel, Brancion, Cormatin, Couches, Drée, Germolles, Digoine, Pierre-de-Bresse, Rully, the abbey of La Ferté, the châteaux of Chaumont, Semur-en-Brionnais, Saint-Point and Sully are all part of the Route des châteaux in Southern Burgundy.
