Dominique Annet welcomes you to La Cabane Verte
Let's go and meet Dominique, who will give you a warm and friendly welcome to the Domaine de la Cabane Verte, on the shores of the Lac des Settons, surrounded by the dense forests of the Morvan. Hospitality comes quite naturally to Dominique, as she takes us on a tour of her little refuge.
The Lac des Settons, a haven of peace
I will be there to welcome you to the Domaine de la Cabane Verte, which is in the great lakes region of the Morvan Regional Natural Park, right at the heart of Burgundy.
A lake with so much to see and do
In the great lakes region of Morvan, there are 6 manmade lakes that were originally made to use as dams. The Lac des Settons is the most central of these lakes. It is a magnificent natural area with a surface area of 360 hectares, and lots of activities. It is possible to walk or cycle around the lake, or explore on a boat.
You'll run into walkers, fishermen, people doing various sports activities and water sports such as stand-up paddle, water skiing, people who have hired a rowing boat, other small boats or canoes.
We come here in search of tranquillity and revitalisation, to get some space and spend some quality time as a couple, as a family or with friends…
A little island of greenery
There are also two islands here, one small one and a big one. We can explore them by following a "figure 8". From the beach, there are some open spaces that are ideal for picnics, for an afternoon nap or to set off looking for an elf, which does exist I dare to add!

Welcome to your home-from-home!
The Domaine de la Cabane Verte is an establishment with 42 wooden rentals to choose from, depending on what guests want and need. There are some large, rustic gypsy caravans suitable for families, and duplex rentals called the “lodges de philosophes”. Here, guests each have their own rental and then there are communal areas to get together such as the library and games room, and the Bistrot des Optimistes, a unique and friendly place.
Here, we don't like people who are always complaining, we welcome happy people who come here for a good time. The Domaine represents an overall state of mind.
A state of mind that is reflected in the surroundings
The state of mind of the Cabane Verte is all about looking for peace-and-quiet and revitalisation. It's about choosing a canoe over a motor boat... The idea is that everyone leaves with "a little something extra".
We have thought of everything so that everyone can go walking, get some fresh air, and embrace the natural environment, while staying at a comfortable establishment.

This is a quiet, yet active place. In autumn our guests can be holidaymakers, professionals for corporate seminars and recently we've been seeing more and more professionals who work remotely!
Besides the view of the lake, we also provide books, games, philosophy evenings, conferences on self-development, MTB outings and oenology outings organised by locals.
For our activities, we work in partnership with local professionals such as the baker, cheesemaker, craftspeople, etc. and showcase their trades and products when we organise markets and other events throughout the year.

In the surrounding area there is so much greenery, lakes, rivers and waterfalls and wild animals, as well as little rural footpaths and some pretty, traditional villages.
When autumn comes...
When autumn comes to Burgundy, it brings so much beauty with it, in fact I think it's the most beautiful season! It is when all the colours arrive, an explosion of oranges, reds, greens and browns. It is magical watching the morning mist dissipate, we take so many photos in autumn! The sunsets are also different at this time of year, the light has changed slightly. There are also more walkers. Even the locals enjoy walking along the footpaths, and foraging for mushrooms from the beginning of autumn. You experience the great outdoors from a different perspective!
What I really like about autumn is that our visitors come with a different frame of mind, they are much calmer, more open to their surroundings. I also like the change in temperature. The cooler temperatures after a very hot summer are ideal for going walking in the forest.
A walk on an autumn day...
In autumn, there are lots of places to see. For example the magnificent Sainte-Marie-de-la-Pierre-qui-Vire abbey in the middle of the forest. The Musée Vauban and the citadels. And the village of Vézelay at the entrance to the Morvan! I also like exploring the historic districts of Autun, but my absolute favourite walk is the 'Balade de la Folie', where you can catch a glimpse of the Lac des Settons from up above.

Dominique's recommendations
To warm up in autumn, what could be better than enjoying a seasonal speciality. In autumn that would be the 'crapiaud', which can be ordered at the Bistrot du Parc du Morvan (20 km from the Domaine), an institution in the region! I also recommend paying the very last clogmaker of the Morvan a visit, at the Saboterie Marchand in Gouloux. Visitors can still watch him today making his own clogs by hand, at this workshop that has been passed down through the generations.
