Autumn weekend break in the Morvan
We met with Xavier who comes to the Morvan every year in autumn. He particularly enjoys coming here for a relaxing break in the fresh air of the great outdoors before winter. Every year, he surprises his partner by choosing to stay somewhere that is within driving distance from their home and offers a much-needed change of scenery. These autumn getaways have become a tradition and a highlight of the year for both of them. What could be better than a walk in the Morvan to disconnect after a hectic week. It's such a pleasure to get the walking boots, coat and woolly hat out, for a complete change of scenery!
We haven't been for a walk in an unspoilt natural environment like this for such a long time! Far from everything, far from civilisation.
My girlfriend and I did this 8 km walk around the Lac de Chamboux, hand-in-hand, admiring the autumn colours along the way. You're pretty much guaranteed to come across a lake here, as there are 6 big lakes to discover in the Morvan!
A spot of foraging
I declare the mushroom season officially open!
I have some great, happy childhood memories foraging for mushrooms with my grandparents. I was therefore delighted, as you can imagine, to be able to relive these memories with my love. Boletus mushrooms, chanterelle mushrooms and hedgehog mushrooms, we filled our basket! This evening, we'll be cooking a mushroom omelette on the fire.
A magical stay
I’d like to share with you the last two places we stayed at over recent years. They are very different and each one left us with magical memories thanks to the originality and charm, as well as the exceptional setting.
The fantastic village of the Domaine de la Pierre Ronde
A very pleasant place to stay specialised in unusual accommodation with poetic names. After great hesitation between the Elves’ Refuge and the Magician’s Cottage, we finally decided to stay in the Underground House, a Hobbit’s home decorated to resemble the ones featured in the Lord of the Rings. I am a big fan of the film so I was thrilled. I love the idea!
Added bonus: the wood burner that you can light when you come back from a long walk and spend the evening around the fire.

Les Cabanes sur Pilotis
I think this is probably the most romantic place we’ve ever stayed at. The whole setting is just incredible, especially in autumn when the red and golden leaves of the trees are reflected in the water. From the terrace in front of the chalet, the sunset is absolutely magical.
Added bonus: this place is so remote we felt as if we were completely alone in the world... it was amazing!

Mystical explorations
We can’t stress enough: the scenery in the Morvan is exceptional. Personally, I never tire of the views. Last year, I went to a place that was so anachronic that it really left its mark: the Rochers du Carnaval in Uchon. Rounded rocks dotted here and there as if they had fallen from the sky. They all have weird and wonderful names and are the source of many a legend... Besides the beauty of this place, I also found it mysterious and mystical!
