Tour des Ursulines

The Ursuline Tower (12th century) was built on Gallo-Roman foundations and integrated into the rampart. In the 19th century, the Visitandines took possession of the place and installed the statue of the Virgin. The Tower belongs to a Japanese artist, Hisao Takahashi, a master in the art of mural painting. He created the international cultural centre of the Ursuline Tower (practice and teaching of the art of fresco and international cultural exchanges). A place for artistic exhibitions.
The Ursuline Tower, formerly the Prisoners' Tower or the François I Tower, is a keep built in the 12th century. The tower was designed to protect the old Rivault castle. It is the main vestige of this castle, which was dismantled around 1600 and whose name derives from the Latin rivus. This name was also borne by the former lords, and was later retained in the name of the Rivault Quarter.
