The Way of St. James – GR®654
From north of the Yonne to south of the Nièvre
From Quincerot to La Charité-sur-Loire and Nevers, this route crosses the Yonne vineyards in this, the most beautiful period of the year to admire the vines. When you pass through Vézelay, don't miss the famous basilica before stopping off to visit and taste the production, or even have lunch, at the Domaine de La Croix Montjoie. On the southern section of the route, you'll have some superb views of the Loire from the vineyard and a new religious monument: the Notre-Dame de La Charité-sur-Loire Priory.
The Way of St. James – the German Route
From Cîteaux Abbey to Cluny Abbey, there is so much to discover in terms of culture and gastronomy. Explore the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, stopping off at some unmissable places along the way: the Château du Clos Vougeot, the Hôtel-Dieu de Beaune with its glazed tiles on the roof and finally, Cluny and the Abbey, a spiritual place that is not to be missed.
The Way of St. James / Gy-Vézelay
When you cross the Auxois region, explore Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, and visit the aniseed-flavoured sweets factory. Then head towards Semur-en-Auxois, a charming medieval town, and taste the Epoisses cheese, guaranteed to leave a lasting impression! Your adventure will come to a close in Vézelay, a town very popular with pilgrims, with its masterpiece of Roman architecture, the Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Basilica.
