Wide angle on the destination

Sancerre-Pouilly-Giennois

North-west of the Nièvre, the "Sancerre-Pouilly-Giennois" destination forms a triangle, with the Loire flowing through the middle, and the three vineyards:

  • the Sancerrois, on the left bank of the Loire,
  • the Pouilly and the Giennois, on the opposite bank.

There are 4 Protected Designations of Origin (AOC) here: Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé, Côteaux du Giennois and Pouilly sur Loire, the smallest of the AOC Centre Loire wines!

These vineyards cover 4,300 ha with clay, limestone and siliceous soil, that gives the grape varieties their unique notes: Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay, Chasselat and Pinot Noir, everyone is sure to find a white, red or rosé wine that suits them!

The Sancerre-Pouilly-Giennois destination may be divided geographically, but is united thanks to the motto from the Baillis de Pouilly fraternity:

Water divides us, wine unites us

To see and do..

Gourmet getaway in the countryside

This destination certainly has its fair share of activities on the theme of wine! Come and listen to the winegrowers at the Caveau des Moulins à Vent or those from the Château de Tracy talking about the history of their vineyards and how the soil influences the aromas of their wines. You can also taste these wines while enjoying a delicious meal at the Coq Hardi. We recommend the roasted fillet of beef with potatoes, and a glass of Pouilly-Fumé!

While you're staying in this destination, it is also an opportunity to taste the typical local products of the region. Stop by the Ferme de Port-Aubry or the Fromagerie Perrot, for a tour and learn about Chavignol goat's cheese production! Then continue on your discovery of the local delights at the Les Craquants du Val de Loire biscuit factory where you can try the biscuits, chocolates and other delicious homemade treats. You won't be sorry!
