With its soft, round-tiled roofs and elegant quaysides on the banks of the Saône, Mâcon, the gateway to southern Burgundy, is a city where life is good. Already a southern city, it stretches along the right bank of the Saône, bordered by the Mâconnais mountains covered with vineyards and famous wines. In Mâcon, flowering is part of the city's heritage. The city was honoured in 2006 and 2016 by the award of the Fleur d'Or, the excellence of the Villes et Villages fleuris label. With a 4-hectare green corridor in the town centre, a leisure park, an arboretum, a Voie Bleue and cycle lanes, the areas allow everyone to enjoy an exceptional environment.
