With a surface area of 138 ha, the Crescent lake owes its name to its "crescent" shape. It is a hydroelectric dam built in 1930 and financed by German war damages. The dam is 330 m long, 37 m high and the capacity of the lake is 14 million m3.
The Crescent reservoir is fed by the most famous trout rivers of the Morvan: the Cure and the Chalaux. The lake is also home to zander and perch.
Every year at the end of July, during the lake festival, a country meal followed by a firework display enliven the banks (in the commune of Marigny l'Eglise).
The bathing area is on the Yonne side in the commune of Chastellux-sur-Cure.
There are also games for your children.
Please note that there is no supervised beach for this lake.
