Ancestral vineyard of the Loire, probably cultivated since the 2nd century, the hillsides of Cosne and Gien have crossed the ages without abandoning the vine. The winegrowers have kept up the tradition and have progressed and obtained the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in 1998. Three products benefit from this privilege: the often confidential rosés, the whites from the Sauvignon grape variety and the reds which represent 64% of the total production and are made from a blend of Pinot noir and Gamay. Now close to 200 ha, the vineyard is spread over 2/3 near Cosne-sur-Loire and 1/3 in the neighbouring Loiret
