Site du Tir à l'Oiseau

The site of the shooting bird is a clearing located at the entrance of the forest of Charolles, and is classified among the sites and natural monuments of artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque, since 1934. This site is used by the Confrérie du Tir à l'Oiseau (Brotherhood of Bird Shooting) whose first mentions go back to the 15th century. The tradition is that for the Madeleine festival, a bird shooting is organized there. Over the years, crossbow shooting, favoured in the Middle Ages, was replaced by rifle shooting.
