This statue of the Virgin, 5 metres high and weighing 9 tonnes, was the work of Mr Poutriquet, a sculptor from Paris, assisted by Mr Tuduri, a decorative sculptor, and Mr Fouché, a stone-cutter. It was replaced in 2008 by a stone statue sculpted by Joël Dasvin from Chaulgnes. There is a magnificent panoramic view of the Canal du Nivernais and the Monts du Morvan in the distance.
