In the heart of the Monts du Mâconnais, at the foot of Mont Saint-Romain, lies the jewel of the Cluny region: the Caves of Blanot.
The main cavity, the cave-abyss of Cailleverdière, named after the vegetation surrounding the karst where it was formed, was discovered in 1700 and explored a few decades later by Doctor Dumolin, a pioneer in speleology.
Since then, it has never ceased to amaze its visitors!
The visit to the cave-abyss will take you into the depths of the earth at more than 80m, in the heart of a vast network, to discover a maze of galleries interspersed with rooms, each more curious and impressive than the next.
A loop of about an hour with a passionate guide who will tell you the history of this chasm and the fauna that inhabits it.
