Created in 1985, this ensemble first made a name for itself in Paris, notably through regular concerts at the Sainte Chapelle on the Ile de la Cité. Most of its members are from the Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine. They started out as a "Trio" under the name "Trompettes de Versailles" with the formation "2 Trompettes et Orgue" to which timpani were soon added.
Playing regularly in Paris and throughout France, their many concerts have taken them far beyond our borders, with performances at festivals in Asia (Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong), South America (Ecuador) and, of course, Europe (England, Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Turkey).
The rich repertoire consists mainly of brilliant, sumptuous works once performed at the court of Versailles, but also includes Romantic and contemporary works adapted or composed for this ensemble.
For this concert, Georges Bessonnet, organ, Fabien Verwaerde and Alexandre Oliveri, trumpets, have concocted a musical journey from the Baroque to the early 20th century, with works by Lully, Bach, Purcell, Liszt, Vierne and others...
