Come and discover the sounds of the colour magenta with the ensemble "Bacchus et Cupidon".
Magenta is a colour that does not correspond to any precise colourimetry: it is defined as a pure purple that is more red than blue.
Lucile Bailly-Gourevitch, mezzo, Antoine Bonardot, harpsichord, and Louison Sauilley, viola da gamba, will take a whirl around this elusive hue in a programme of French Baroque music in three parts:
- First of all, the rose galant, with airs de cours by Antoine de Boesset in particular.
- For the body of the triptych: sacred red, with Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre's French cantata Le Passage de la Mer Rouge (The Crossing of the Red Sea).
- Finally, for a light-hearted finale, they will pay tribute to the purple of wine, praised in airs à boire by de Boismortier and Julie Pinel.
These different parts will be punctuated by instrumental pieces, including Dominos rose, incarnat et pourpre by François Couperin.
