Christophe Roy has surrounded himself with some brilliant young cellists who have completed their higher education. Johann Sebastian Bach, of course, and his ultimate Sixth Suite, followed by Bernd Aloïs Zimmermann's Sonata, the starting point for all contemporary cello writing from 1960 onwards, both performed by Christophe Roy, will then give way to two great works, Henri Dutilleux's three Strophes, and Yoshihisa Taïra's rarely performed cello quartet Hiérophonie 1.
To conclude the programme, the cellists will welcome Noëmi Schindler's violin (!) for Maurice Ravel's sublime and much-needed Sonata.
