In days gone by, when Flavigny-sur-Ozerain was still the administrative centre of the canton, the inhabitants of the region traded their produce at regular markets. In October, the Saint-Simon market was the last of the season, and therefore the most important, as it allowed everyone to stock up for the coming winter.
The Flavigny Animations association and the commune of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain are organising the Saint-Simon market again this year, with the theme of "garage sales, crafts, gastronomy and regional products". As you stroll through the narrow streets of the village, you'll find plenty of entertainment. You'll be able to whet your appetite with a free tasting of a wide range of regional products, and you'll be able to eat in various places around the market.
This will be an opportunity for visitors with a taste for good food to sample a whole host of local products: charcuterie, farmhouse cheeses, honey, jams, pastries... and of course the famous Anis, to be tasted in the Carolingian crypt, as well as wines from the Domaine de Flavigny-Alésia or beers from the Brasserie de Flavigny with a product from the boulangerie de Flavigny or snails from Hélixine. Strollers will also be able to discover all sorts of crafts in the streets, lanes and squares: basketry, dried flowers, jewellery, blacksmithing, sculpture, etc. From 9 a.m. onwards, the place will be given over to bargain hunters and lovers of all kinds of antiques, who will, as they do every year, be thronging the stalls of the garage sales to unearth that rare item.
