This museum-monument offers a theme-based layout that retraces the two thousand years of the history of Christianity. To mark its reopening, the museum has expanded its collection to include a splendid national treasure: "Via Vitae" (or "The Way of Life", 1894-1904) produced by the master goldsmith-jeweller Joseph Chaumet. This monumental and prized work of art (made of gold, ivory, alabaster, diamonds, rubies and more precious materials) 3 m high by 3 m wide is a celebration of the life of Christ.
