Located not far from Vézeley, the whole site has been listed as a historical monument since 2002 (1978 for its chapel).
The name of the château de Villemolin comes from the name of a Roman villa once built on the hill.
This fortified residence dates from the 15th century, a large part of it was rebuilt in the 17th century and then redesigned and enlarged in the 18th century. The last modifications to the castle date from the 19th century.
The castle is flanked by three towers and surrounded by an English-style park.
The chapel, in neo-Gothic style, dates back to 1839 and houses a Pietra painted on a wooden panel.
It has been owned by the De Certaine family since 1578.
Today the house is privately owned and inhabited. In 2022, the site was used as a set for the films "Mystery of the Yellow Room" and "The Perfume of the Lady in Black".
The castle is open to visitors during the summer. The guided tour allows access to the salons, library, vestibules, dining room, kitchens and chapel as well as the exterior.
