The first day
The morning
Set off to explore the town of Nevers, by following the blue lines painted on the ground, which will guide you around all the main sights.
Lunchtime
The weather is still pretty mild so why not extend the holiday atmosphere and enjoy lunch out on the terrace at La Marine, with a panoramic view of the canal. You'll be tasting regional homemade cuisine, made from local products, and surrounded by the scent of the famous Loire whitebait and the sound of the flowing waters!
The afternoon
Now it's time for a leisurely bike ride! The EuroVélo 6 is one of the easiest and most pleasant cycle routes in France. As you cycle along the water's edge, you can wave to the fishermen, lock keepers and boats, and enjoy the cool breeze on your cheeks until you arrive in La Charité sur Loire.
A well-earned break
At Couleur Café, you can expect a gourmet, vintage experience in this former bookshop transformed into a café, with girly and retro decoration. There's a vintage radio, old-fashioned fine china, inner courtyard full of flowers... you'll feel right at home here!
The evening
In the evening, treat yourselves to a simple meal at the Bouchon de Loire in La Charité-sur-Loire, a restaurant serving hearty cuisine, with regional and seasonal products, in the friendly and inviting atmosphere of a little Burgundian restaurant.
Overnight
For a good night's sleep after your day, there's nothing better than a romantic night at the Roulotte des Bertranges (gypsy caravan) with a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Spend some quality time together in the countryside, and play a board game in front of the wood burner, to warm yourselves up. Laughter and comfort guaranteed!
The second day
The morning
Take your time getting up, and then go forest bathing in the green lung of the Nièvre, full of the red shades of autumn, to awaken all your senses. The magnificent trees all around will inspire the poet in you, and these trees will also offer comfort to walkers.
Lunchtime
After dropping your bikes off at the La Charité-sur-Loire Tourist Office, stop for lunch in the historic setting of a priory church, under the ancient archways, doesn't that sound tempting! The menu is full of fresh and seasonal products, perfectly matched with a glass of Pouilly, Sancerre or Côte de La Charité. All of this and more awaits you at the restaurant La Poule Noire.
The afternoon
You'll be ending your weekend on an arty note in La Charité-sur-Loire, Town of Art and History, which has inspired many artists and artisans, thanks to the dreamlike views over the river, the iconic architecture of the Cluniac Priory, the two clock towers, and the atypical historic town centre up on a hill. Not-to-be-missed!
