The festivities begin in May

The first voyage back in time usually takes place on the third weekend of May in Saint-Apollinaire, at the Parc de la Redoute. Every year, the town sets up a real-life medieval camp. You can have fun with the entertainers, watch jousting on horseback, (re)discover the trades of the Middle Ages, enjoy roasted meat off the spit and much more. The little ones will even be able to see what it's like to be a knight!

For Whit weekend, another medieval celebration is held in Semur-en-Auxois: the "Course de la Bague". This time, the entire town becomes the setting for life in the Middle Ages. On the streets throughout the town, you'll hear music, see dancing, parades in costume, traditional professions, etc. You'll feel like you've been transported back in time!

In July, come to the (ancient) market... and meet some historical figures

At the medieval and magical weekend in Brancion with medieval market, you'll be able to choose between the 13th, 14th or 15th centuries. In Couches, the Les Médiévales festival is a reenactment of all aspects of medieval life and takes place mid-July.

The superb Château de Châteauneuf is the venue for exhibitions, shows, cinema and concerts, for a fantastic cultural programme to attend over the summer!

In August, you'll be spoilt for choice!

In August, we've got some original ideas for your weekends and/or holidays, at one of the medieval events organised in the region.

Troubadours, music, jugglers, theatre, archers, falconers, banquets, arts and crafts and farmers' markets and much more. You will be amazed, whether you choose an afternoon at the Vieux Château de Moulins-Engilbert, or a weekend at the Château de Vic-sous-Thil or in Charolles, among others.
