The commune of Mirebeau-sur-Bèze, chief town of the canton, with more than 2000 inhabitants, is situated on an important road about 20 km from Dijon. It is part of the natural region known as the Val de Saône. Watered by the river Bèze, the average altitude is about 200 metres. Two towers and part of the walls of the castle remain, forming an imposing mound. Traces of the town's ramparts can be found near the parish church along the Bèze and at the edge of the football pitch (route de Dijon). Its motor home area, its heated outdoor swimming pool with picnic area, its weekly market on Wednesday mornings make this commune a place where it is good to stop.
