Tour Philippe le Bon

From its 46 m (about 150 ft) summit, the Philip the Good Tower offers a stunning panorama over the town of Dijon and the surrounding area. The Philip the Good Tower, originally called "Tour de la Terrasse" (Terrace Tower), dominates the site of the palace of the Dukes and the States of Burgundy. Built between 1450 and 1460 for Philip the Good - at the same time as the Ducal residence - the tower is reminiscent of Dijon's prestigious medieval past under the reign of the great Valois Dukes. The plans of the palace were drawn by an architect from Lyon named Jean Poncelet.
