The Luzy Town Hall houses Aubusson tapestries which were classified as historical monuments in 1903. These eight pieces on the theme of the tragedy of Esther, from the beginning of the 18th century, are exhibited in the Salle d'Honneur.
The appearance of the borders of the various hangings, decorated with small stylised flowers, has enabled them to be dated to the first quarter of the 18th century.
They are basse lisse tapestries, a technique used in Aubusson, and were made of silk wool.
They are about 2.30m high and were made especially for the different panels of the room, some very narrow, others wider.
The theme of this suite is the life of Esther, as told in the Bible (Old Testament)
