Monument Antoine Bourdelle
Antoine Bourdelle, Auguste Rodin’s pupil, created this monument to commemorate the victims of WWI. After coming to visit the city and discover the collieries, he decided to give to his sculpture the form of a miner’s lamp as a tribute to the tough and dangerous work of miners. It was officially inaugurated in 1930, one year after Bourdelle died.
