A landscape, architectural and cultural site on the edge of the Madeleine woods, the Zervos house, acquired in 1937, offers a wide panoramic view of Vézelay. The contemporary architecture of the house, designed by the architect Badovici, bears witness to the modernity of the Zervos family. The house of the creator of the Cahiers d'Art was a stopping-off place for 20th-century artists including Picasso, Léger, Eluard and Char. The Fondation Zervos Association has continued to focus its cultural activities on contemporary art, particularly artists' books. Events are organised throughout the year: artists' residencies, writers' residencies, symposia, publications, conferences, screenings and readings linked to art criticism.
