The Bois Clair tunnel is a former railway tunnel, and is the longest tunnel in France now open to a Voie Verte (1.6 km). It takes 4 to 6 minutes to get through on a bike, 6 to 10 minutes on rollerblades and 15 to 20 minutes on foot. Horse riders are not allowed through.
The temperature is around 11°C.
There is a lighting system, but it's best to bring an extra light on your bike...
This tunnel is home to protected species of bat, so it is closed during the hibernation period (October to April).
There is an alternative route around the tunnel, loop 14 (4km, expert level).
There is a picnic area upstream of the tunnel when you arrive via Cluny.
