Place of memory
Le Leuzeu
People have been present at Leuzeu since prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages, it is said to have been a monastic barn belonging to the canons of the Château de Vergy, then to the Dukes of Burgundy. During the French Revolution, the estate was sold as a national asset but recovered by Catherine Courtot de Cissey. In 1944, an important maquis settled and led the resistance in the Ouche valley. In 2001, the association "Les amis du val de Leuzeu" bought part of the site and undertook restoration work.
