Lavoir à Impluvium
It is located near the Place des Morts (today's Place du Souvenir), on which the old church was built, surrounded by a cemetery with unhealthy springs in the vicinity (the new cemetery was opened in 1833).
The deliberations of the Council tell us that in the year II, the basin of the fountain, close to the church, was so narrow that two people could not draw from it together, that it is located in a low and very degraded place which received all the filth of the surroundings since it was neither closed, nor covered.
The Rabot fountain was completely low every summer and did not provide water either in the basin for watering the animals or in the one used for washing clothes (this fountain was to be the talk of the town from 1776).
It was in the year III that the commune had the funds to build a stone washhouse covered with a tiled roof to shelter the washers.
In 1864, this fountain was again in a bad state and the water was lost on all sides. Repairs were necessary and were carried out.
In 1878, the washhouses lacked water, but the one known as "des Morts" offered the certainty of always having water.
The old building was demolished to enlarge the basin. The roof structure was completely rebuilt in 1920.
