Guy Coquille (1523 - 1603). Lawyer, advisor to the Dukes of Nevers, Attorney General of the Nivernais, he was elected three times to represent his province at the Estates General of Orleans and Blois.
Guy Coquille left numerous writings, including a History of the Duchy of Nivernais and Commentaries on the Customs of Nivernais.
A plaque has been affixed to his birthplace (rue de la république in Decize). The Belfry (place de la mairie) is named after Guy Coquille (a cast iron statue made by Guy Rochet is nestled in the tower).
The house cannot be visited.
