The 241 P 17 steam locomotive, a listed historic monument, is the largest steam locomotive in Europe. It was built between 1949 and 1950 by Schneider in Le Creusot. After 13 years of passionate restoration by volunteers from Chemins de Fer du Creusot, the locomotive was returned to service in 2006.
Groups can visit the locomotive by appointment.
Visits are also possible at weekends during work sessions, information by e-mail.
Locomotive 241 P 17 will be back in service for six scheduled trips in 2024: 20 April, 18 May, 22 June, 25 August, 14-15 September and 4-7 October 2024 (programme subject to change).
Heritage Trains
In August 2024, Chemins de Fer du Creusot is offering a chance to discover the 241 P 17 locomotive with the steam train on the Deux vallées circuit on Sundays 04/08, 11/08 and 18/08.
Departure from Parc des Combes station at 2.05pm and 4.05pm, departure from Avenue de l'Europe station at 3.20pm and 5.05pm. A 1.5-hour, 10km ride through the countryside on a steam train with a locomotive dating from 1917. The stop at CFC station includes a visit to the 241 P 17 locomotive.

Tours of the locomotive for groups, by appointment.
In summer, visit the locomotive for individuals as part of the Heritage Train, on Sundays in July and August, followed by a trip on the little steam train.
