Chateau de Vautheau

The association "Renaissance du Château de Vautheau", created in 2015 and composed exclusively of volunteers, aims to safeguard and enhance the site. The first step was to clear the ground and clear the brush. Once this was done, it was possible to move on to the next stage, opening the site to the public.
This castle, with its undeniable historical, architectural and scientific potential, has been the subject of much research. Initiated by Michel Desvignes and Valentin Chevassu who wrote a book entitled "Le château et la seigneurie de Vautheau, en autunois Histoire, architecture et archéologie".
Excavations carried out by archaeologists have confirmed the scientific importance of this site. Research work is still in progress.
Various workcamps have been set up to facilitate and secure the work of the researchers.
At the same time, the volunteers are keen to bring the site to life by organising various events. Every summer, concerts, drawing courses, hikes, heritage days and private visits are organised ....
