The "Renaissance du Château de Vautheau" association, created in 2015 and made up exclusively of volunteers, aims to safeguard and enhance the site. To begin with, the site had to be cleared of undergrowth. Once this had been done, it was possible to move on to the next stage, opening the site to the public.
This Château, with its undeniable historical, architectural and scientific potential, has been the subject of a great deal of research. Initiated by Michel Desvignes and Valentin Chevassu, who wrote a book entitled "Le château et la seigneurie de Vautheau, en autunois Histoire, architecture et archéologie".
Excavations by archaeologists have confirmed the scientific importance of this site. Research is still ongoing.
A number of additional projects have been undertaken to make the work of the researchers easier and safer. They also consolidate and conserve the existing buildings.
At the same time, the volunteers are keen to bring the site to life by organising various events. Every summer, they organise concerts, drawing courses, walks, heritage days and private tours ....
A charming place with a bewitching power, there's a good reason for everyone to enjoy it. Whether you want to be lulled to sleep by the voice of a storyteller, enjoy a concert, learn more about architecture or discover construction techniques during educational workcamps, there's no shortage of opportunities to discover Château de Vautheau.
