The Municipal Archives are one of the oldest institutions in Dijon, since its history can be traced back to the granting of the town charter in 1187 by the Duke of Burgundy Hugues III. As the memory of our city, the Archives preserve the testimony of the evolution of the city, its districts and the daily life of its inhabitants. More than just a place of conservation, you will discover a site that has been preserved since 1730, classified as a Historic Monument. Guided heritage visit of 1 hour: discovery of the Archives department and its repository located in the heart of the Palais des Etats de la Province. Presentation of the palace (now the Hôtel de Ville) and the most beautiful pieces of Dijon's history (parchments, town charter, law books, posters, maps of the town and monuments, etc.).
