The synagogue of Chablis, listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments, is a two-storey house whose construction dates back to the 16th century. Restored in 2006 and 2008 under the impetus of William Fèvre, a masonry company straightened and consolidated the walls by recovering the original stones, which had fallen down, while a team of companions of the Tour de France made all the woodwork in solid oak. An exhibition room retracing the world history of the men of the Torah and a mikveh, a pool for ritual baths, occupy the ground floor. Upstairs, a room for prayer, study and various meetings. An openwork Star of David, made of solid oak and built into the floor, links the two levels. Today it is a cultural place where many artistic exhibitions are programmed.
