The Carmel de la Paix is the work of Spanish architect Jean-Louis Sert, a disciple of Le Corbusier. Situated at the top of a hill, this remarkable contemporary building was erected in the 1970s. It blends seamlessly into the landscape and has been awarded the "20th Century Heritage" label. Around thirty nuns combine monastic life, hospitality and agricultural work on a farm and orchard, providing for their own needs. The Carmelite nuns welcome guests to share a little of their life, their prayer and their work. Mass every day from Monday to Saturday at 11am (please ask beforehand). Silence is the rule in Carmel.
