The oldest parts of the church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul in Sussey were built in the 12th century and were modified in the 15th century. It is located within the fortified enclosure of the old castle, of which only the entrance archway remains. The bell tower, choir and nave are Romanesque.
The choir features a representation of Christ in majesty in his mandorla, holding a book, as well as symbols of the evangelists, some of which are still preserved. They were discovered by chance under the plaster covering them during restoration work carried out in 1982 and 1983. The wall paintings date from the 12th and 15th centuries and were listed as historic monuments in 1983.
There is also a 17th-century painting of Saint Francis of Assisi and another depicting Saint Francis of Assisi in front of the Holy Face, both of which are listed historic monuments. In addition, the 16th-century sculptures of Saint Peter and Saint John the Baptist (painted wood statues) are listed as historic monuments.
