Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste
Surrounded by the communes of Viré, Lugny and Péronne, Burgy is located 17 km north-west of Mâcon. The Romanesque church of Burgy, surrounded by vineyards, stands on a terrace overlooking the Saône plain, 400 m above sea level, on the road known as the "Belvédère". There is a panoramic view over the Saône plain, the Jura mountains and even Mont Blanc. The church dates back to the 11th-12th centuries and was remodelled in the Gothic period and the 19th century. It was listed as a Historic Monument in 1979. It is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. The nave, choir and bell tower of this church are entirely Romanesque. Worth seeing: in the nave. Mural arcades and framework.
