Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste
Surrounded by the communes of Viré, Lugny and Péronne, Burgy is located 17 km northwest of Mâcon. The Romanesque church of Burgy, surrounded by vineyards, is situated on a terrace overlooking the Saône plain, at an altitude of 400 m, on the road known as the "Belvédère". A panoramic view overlooks the Saône plain, the Jura mountains and even the Mont Blanc. The church dates from the 11th-12th century and was remodelled in the Gothic period and in the 19th century; it was classified as a historical monument in 1979. It is dedicated to Saint Jean-Baptiste.
