The old church of Saint-Berain-sur-Dheune is abandoned for a new construction, on a project of the architect Narjoux, of 1833, in the center of the village. The work was awarded the same year to Louis Gaguin, a contractor in Ecuisses. The nave of the old church is demolished to supply materials for the new one, completed in 1835.
In 1860, the new church, which had become too small, was enlarged according to a plan and an estimate drawn up by Mr Barrelier, as the population had increased by a quarter following the establishment of a bottle glass factory.
