Mars is said to have taken its name from Marcus, the god of war of the Romans who lived in this strategic location in the Allier valley. A Cluniac site inaugurated on 24 September 2004, this church dates from the 11th - 12th centuries. The Saint-Julien de Mars-Sur-Allier church is without doubt one of the most atypical, but also one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in the department. Come and admire its touching sculpted representations: its magnificent tympanum with two registers, and its famous sculpted modillions. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of this building in harmony with the nature that surrounds it. Possibility of a free visit. The church is open every day
