The church was built in the 11th century by the monks of Cluny as the centre of a deanery, and has been modified over the centuries: Romanesque transept, a beautiful cross with a dome on semicircular arches, a large octagonal bell tower, the two lower floors of which, which have been preserved, date from the extreme end of the Romanesque period, and a Gothic chancel with a superb neo-Gothic stained glass window. Listed as a historic monument in 1926, the church is a Cluniac site. It is being restored in three phases under the direction of the architect Pierre Raynaud, the town hall being the project manager.
