The Commanderie de Villemoison is a unique monument in the region, both in terms of its history and its architecture. Its three buildings (chapel, commander's dwelling and barn), which date back to the 12th century, bear witness to the establishment of the Templar Order in the Nièvre region. In the courtyard stands a Romanesque chapel, the heart of which is adorned with a 13th-century fresco. The site is privately owned and part of it is used as tourist accommodation. The site can only be visited during guided tours given by the owners on Wednesdays during the summer, and as a self-guided tour from Wednesday to Saturday (from 4.30pm to 6pm on Wednesdays and from 2.30pm to 6pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays) and during the European Heritage Days.
