Musée des nourrices et des enfants de l'Assistance publique
The history of the nannies and the children of the public assistance has shaped the identity of the Morvan. Since the end of the 18th century, it has involved tens of thousands of children, women and families
A place of memory and expression, through its 200 m2 of exhibition space, the museum evokes the destinies of the children of the Assistance placed in the Morvan, of the families who took them in and of the women who left as wet nurses to nurse the children of the Parisian bourgeoisie. Through a lively scenography where historical data and sensitive testimonies are intertwined, the museum is a link between history and current issues concerning the family, parenthood, children... Two centuries of local history compared to the evolution of society and public administration
Designed as a real place to live, the museum houses a café and three guest rooms.
