The richness and diversity of the museum's collections will appeal to connoisseurs and the simply curious, young and old alike. Archaeological artefacts, bearing witness to the region's occupation since the Palaeolithic period, stand alongside jewellery and goldsmiths' and silversmiths' pieces by Jean Després and paintings and sculptures by well-known artists such as Georges Rouault, Isidore Pils and Pierre Vigoureux. The collection of Yao artefacts and costumes is well worth a visit. There is also an area devoted to the process of artistic creation, a subject rarely dealt with in museums.
