In the historic setting of the first floor of the Porte de Joigny, the Musée-Galerie Carnot presents the image of the fortifications and monuments of the royal city. Of particular interest is the exceptional medieval bas-relief of the "Lovers of Villeneuve", the project for the façade of Notre-Dame de Villeneuve drawn in 1575 and the 16th century painted panel "Works of Mercy". The Knights' room contains a collection of more than 30 mannequins that retrace 200 years of the history of the Gendarmerie Nationale.
