Moulin de Maupertuis

The old Maupertuis flour mill dates back to the 14th century. It is located in the heart of old Donzy. Now an Ecomuseum, it is listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. Today, the big bucket wheel still turns and the machines still work. They invite us to take a hands-on look at what millers did in days gone by, from wheat grain to flour. Themed exhibitions on the role of bread and milling accompany this fun tour, which also features a projection room. Virtually all the mill's equipment is original, including roller mills and sieves dating from the last decade of the 19th century. Since 1990, it has been welcoming tourists, as well as many school classes attracted by the quality and diversity of the activities and workshops on offer. We regularly present our new activities to the local educational advisors from the Ministry of Education, so that we can gather their comments and suggestions.
