The Laundress Ecomuseum opened on 26 June 2022.

The association Au fil des lavoirs, in addition to its objective of enhancing the value of the communal and private washhouses in the town of Clamecy, wanted, in creating this eco-museum, to bear witness to the work of these women, washerwomen, washerwomen, laundresses, whatever you want to call them.
The different stages of washing clothes are shown in a realistic way thanks to mannequins and the tools needed for this work.
The world of the washerwoman is recreated in a lively manner.
The aim is also to awaken the memory of people who knew or heard about the time of the laundries, and to arouse the interest of young people in this bygone era.
Our motivation is heritage and memory.
It is possible to buy on the spot, to support the association.
