Departure from the Place de l'Église. Parking is available in the square or at the picnic area at the western entrance to the village.
(D/A) Opposite the restaurant, take the road on the right. At the war memorial, turn left and take the dirt track.
(1) Turn right onto the wide track. Reach and cross the road. Continue up this track until you reach a small lane.
(2) Turn right and 100m further on, go down the track on the left. Leave the paths on the right, which often lead only to a field.
(3) Once back on a small road, turn left and follow it for about 700m, leaving the service road in the large bend on the right.
(4) Turn right onto this track, which runs through arable land. At the crossroads, turn right and continue, again leaving the field and wood entrances on either side. This path is the route of the old abandoned Tacot track. Leave a sunken track on the right level with a gatehouse. Reach the entrance to the hamlet of Les Merles.
(5) Turn right (do not cross the bridge on the left) and continue along this narrow road. At the next crossroads, turn left onto the D1. Cross carefully, go down to the left for 80m and turn right towards the hamlet of Les Bergeries. Go straight across the hamlet, leaving the small lanes leading to the houses and farms.
(6) As the road bends 90°, take the stony track opposite. Continue down this main path, leaving all the paths on the right and left.
(7) At the junction with the D3 road, turn left towards the obelisk. At this monument, turn left onto the grassy path, pass by the recumbent figures and go straight downhill. At the end of this path, you reach the village of Fontenoy by turning left (D/A).
