Maison Fort

The start of this walk is on Avenue de la Gare, close to the Tourist Office.

(D/A) Head towards the château, cross the Grande Rue and enter the grounds. Go around the building to the right. At the end of the gable, turn right and continue through the wooded area towards the buildings at the back (retirement home). After the pond on your right, turn left downstream of the car park and then right towards the stairs. Access to the car park ends at Allée des Amours, which you should climb to reach Route des Thus.

(1) Cross the crossroads and go straight ahead into Rue Noire. Reach the Route de Dampierre (D957).

(2) Carefully cross the D957 and continue on the opposite road. At the start of the bend at L'équerre, fork left onto the track (Ancienne Voie Romaine d'Orléans à Autun).

(3) Turn right. Leave the side tracks to reach Chante-Merle. Cross this locality and come to a side road.

(4) Turn left at the next crossroads. Turn right towards Les Chaboureaux.
At this point, keep to the main road through the village. It ends in a side road that you should take on the left for about 200 m.

(5) Turn right onto the hedge-lined track which leads to a road.

(6) Turn right and then left onto the small tarmac lane. You will reach Maison Fort.

(7) At the bend (private road opposite), turn left, keeping to the road, and shortly after take the track on the right.

(8) Turn right for about 50 metres. Take the dirt track on the left, without crossing the old dyke with the very wild pond on the right. Walk alongside the Étang de la Forge, keeping it to your right. Cross the Maison Fort stream on the footbridge. Turn right onto a wide driveway. Reach the D955 road.

(9) Cross this road carefully. Turn right for 10 m and then left to continue along Chemin du Tacot. Continue straight on, leaving the side paths to reach the starting point (D/A).
