Departure is from the château car park (la Ville).
(D/A) Take the street leading to the château, passing under the Porte de la Ville gate. Pass to the right of the château, go down the street and then down the grassy path opposite which leads to a small lane. Continue downhill until you reach the Place Jean Bertin, where you cross over to the footbridge on the right of the large building.
(1) Follow the lake on your right and then the river Druyes on your left.
(2) At the foot of the guinguette, turn right onto the path leading up to a planted area. Take the time to have a look at the lake. At the crossroads, fork right and then, when you reach the tarmac road, turn right.
(3) Go up Rue Thiers on the left and, at the crossroads signposted Les Mérys-Taingy on the right, take the path between the two branches of the Y formed by the roads. Walk along the edge of part of the wood, then enter the undergrowth. Reach a small road.
(4) Turn right and cross a side road. Take the uphill track opposite. Take the first bend on the right and an angle on the left to enter the wooded area.
(5) Once again, cross a road to continue on a track. The descent is very short (around 150m), and on the right is a path slaloming between the trees. At the bottom, opposite a field, turn right (the left-hand path is not shown on the IGN map).
(6) Turn left, climb up and reach an open space (fallow in September 2019). The route runs alongside this field (there is also a parallel path on the edge of the wood).
(7) Turn right at right-angles. Walk a little along the edge of the field and enter the undergrowth again. Go straight on until you reach a wider, gravelled track. Take it on the right. Leave the undergrowth and follow the edge of the field on your left.
(8) Cross this junction, staying on the main path. The view opens out onto wide open spaces. The castle's towers are beginning to come into view. Leave the side paths to reach a road. Follow it back to the start car park (D/A).
