The Roman road and the horse-gear well

Departure from Place de la Mairie.

(D/A) Go around the church to the right, following the path that runs alongside the lime trees or along the small street if you have a carriage. Join the Rue de la Chapelle. Before the petrol station, turn left into Rue des Courgelles. Take the first road on the right. At the large bend in the road, leave the road to take the path opposite. At the T-junction, turn right onto a side road.

(1) Take this road on the left as far as the next crossroads.

(2) Enter and cross the hamlet of La Villeneuve in the right-hand lane and continue eastwards. The road ends in a path. Let the next one go left and start climbing to reach the D6.

(3) Carefully cross the road, go straight on and follow it to the next cross track, 200 m after the old mill. Continue along the right-hand track. Reach the road.

(4) The highest point of the Montagne des Alouettes (378 m) is 100 m along on the left. Take the right-hand path down to the D6.

(5) Cross the road, with care, and continue straight ahead on the dirt track (an old Roman road) to join the D66.

(6) Cross over, with care, and continue straight ahead along the track. Continue straight on until you come to the next tarmac lane on a bend.

(7) Leave the old Roman road by taking this road on the right for 400 m.

(8) Turn left onto the stony track. Leave the paths on the right and left to reach the D3 or D5 (change of département).

(9) Leaving the farm on your left, turn right onto this road and drive for about 300 m, remaining very careful.

(10) Cross the road and turn left towards Les Murailles. Follow the road down to the cross. At the cross, turn right onto a track.

(11) At the end of the road, turn left for 50 m and fork left along the walls of Château de Flassy. Continue along the road.

(12) Walk past the merry-go-round well and between the farm entrance on the left and the house on the right. Take the left-hand path which leads to a cross track.

(13) Turn right and continue straight ahead until you reach the next crossroads (on the way there is a turning off to the right into the woods).

(14) Turn right and continue for about 500 m to find a hairpin bend on the left.

(15) Take this, leaving the next start on the right, and rejoin the road.

(16) Cross this road and continue straight on until you reach a junction of five roads.

(17) Take the second on the right and join the D3.

(18) Follow this road for 200 m, leaving it for a track on the left with houses on the right. Cross the next tarmac road. Leave the sports ground on the left and end up on the D66.

(19) If you take great care when travelling along this road, you will reach the starting village (D/A) on the right.
